Really considering Citroen Basalt for my wife: Test drive observations

It does not have all the bells and whistles of say a Hyundai but the basics are really good.

BHPian argho recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

I test drove the Citroen Basalt.

My thoughts

  1. Space is amazing. Was test driving for a friend who is 6 feet 3 (and generously built). We had gone to the Tata showroom first. He could not even get into the Curv. When he finally squeezed in, and set the driver seat at the rearmost position, and lowest setting, his knees were touching the steering wheel.
  2. No such problem with the Basalt. He was able to enter easily, and sit comfortably.
  3. Rear seat is also spacious and comfortable.
  4. The turbo petrol automatic is a hoot to drive. Really enjoyable. Can be chucked around corners.
  5. Has the essentials - wireless Android auto, wireless charging and a decent-sounding music system.
  6. No autochromic IRVM is a pain.
  7. No sunroof - which for me is a plus.
  8. The entire look and feel, including the interiors, is very European. Stylish. And the doors are chunky. No flimsy Maruti build here.

All in all, am seriously considering this for the missus.

Does not have all the bells and whistles of say a Hyundai (which anyway are never used). But the basics are really good.

Waiting to see what is the safety rating they get.
