Range Rover Evoque convertible revealed

Previewed by a concept that was showcased back in 2012, the Range Rover Evoque convertible has finally been revealed in its production guise. The Evoque convertible gets a black soft top that stows in a claimed 18 seconds and can be raised in 21 seconds at speeds of up to 48 km/h. The convertible maintains the look of the standard Evoque with the "Z fold" mechanism ensuring that the roof sits flush, keeping the look uncluttered.

The convertible has a 251L boot, and features a new 10.2-inch touchscreen with Jaguar Land Rover's next-generation infotainment system, InControl™ Touch Pro that offers smartphone integration, door-to-door navigation and 3G connectivity. The interior design has been carried forward from the standard car. For added safety, the SUV gets a roll-over protection device that features deployable roll-over bars hidden in the rear bodywork. It deploys two aluminium bars within 90 milliseconds, should the vehicle topple over.

Land Rover's complete range of all-aluminium, 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines will be available, along with a ZF 9-speed automatic gearbox, terrain response, wade-sensing and all-terrain progress control.

The new Range Rover Evoque convertible will be produced at Land Rover's Halewood plant in the UK, alongside the five door and coupé body styles. The model goes on sale from mid-2016 in more than 170 markets worldwide.
