Production version of Fiat Avventura spied in Pune

Fiat appears to have started testing the Punto-based Avventura in India. Motoring website, Motorbash has published pictures of the car, which were taken while it was doing test runs in Pune.

The Avventura test mule can be distinguished from the Punto test mules by its larger, 16-inch wheels, higher ground clearance and the hump on the tailgate, on which the spare wheel will be housed. The test mule's entire front and rear ends have been heavily masked, suggesting that there could be major changes to the body fittings.

Fiat had displayed the Avventura concept at the 12th Auto Expo, which was held at Greater Noida in February 2014. Some of the trim from the concept, like the roof rails and plastic cladding on the sides, seems to have been left out on the production version.

The Avventura is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of CY 2014 and will compete with the Volkswagen Cross Polo and the Toyota Etios Cross.  Engine options will be announced at the time of launch.
