Porsche now offers touchscreen, Apple CarPlay for older 911s

Porsche has introduced a replacement infotainment system with touchscreen and Apple CarPlay compatibility for their older 911 models. Interested customers can retrofit these units in Porsche 911s from the 1960s onwards.

Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) is a single DIN unit that has a 3.5-inch touchscreen. It supports Bluetooth, USB and Aux for playback and gets an optional SD card for navigation. To maintain the classic look, the carmaker has added 2 rotary knobs and 6 physical buttons around the touchscreen. This unit is compatible with very first 911 models from 1960s all the way to the last of the air-cooled ones from the 1990s. It is also possible to fit this unit in earlier front or mid-engined cars.

The company has also introduced a PCCM Plus model that fits a 2-DIN slot in cars from the 1990s (996-gen 911 and 986-gen Boxsters). It gets a 7-inch touchscreen. This version is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Music playback is possible via SD card, USB, AUX and Bluetooth. Map data and later updates can be used via a separate SD card and ordered from the Porsche Centre.

The units are priced at Euro 1,439.89 and Euro 1,606.51 respectively, (inclusive of VAT) and can be ordered from Porsche centres or the Porsche Classic online shop.
