Porsche bids a sentimental farewell to Audi from WEC racing

Audi dropped out from the World Endurance Championship, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in October this year. Audi's chief rival in the championship and fellow Volkswagen Group brand - Porsche has now released a video to give a special send-off to its long-term competitor.

When Porsche returned to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014, Audi had released a video in which the company's R18 e-tron quattro race car leaves Audi’s headquarters in Ingolstadt, passes a farmer on an old Porsche tractor, reaches the Porsche headquarters in Stuttgart, and performs doughnuts to etch the message 'Welcome Back' in burned rubber.

The new video released by Porsche begins with the same tractor, as the farmer hears the news of Audi exiting the WEC. He then heads to Porsche’s headquarters in Stuttgart where Audi had left the earlier welcome message. With a bucket and a brush, the farmer then scrubs off the 'Wel' and alters the three-year old note to 'Come Back'.

With its departure from WEC, Audi is aiming to focus on other motorsports, including the Formula E series.
