Porsche 718 Cayman & Boxster - bookings open in India

Porsche India has started accepting bookings of the 718 Cayman and the 718 Boxster, before their official launch in the country later this year. The company has also announced prices of both these cars - the 718 Cayman costs Rs. 80.13 lakh, while the 718 Boxster is priced at Rs. 83.95 lakh. As a result, the Boxster convertible is priced higher than the Cayman coupe, unlike the previous generation cars where the opposite was true.

Both the Cayman and Boxster now come with downsized engines. A 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged mill replaces the 3.4-litre, six-cylinder unit that was found in the previous generation models. The new engine produces 300 BHP and 380 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed PDK automatic gearbox. Porsche claims that these output figures help the car in accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 275 km/h.

Porsche India will probably launch the 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster next month, with deliveries starting from November 2016.
