In pics: I spent a day at the Melbourne Motor Show 2025

Hybrids and PHEVs were equally present as were BEVs, and some mainstream manufacturers of ICE-powered cars were also there.

BHPian SS-Traveller recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

The Melbourne Motor Show returned after more than a decade (actually the last one was in 2011) – and 100 years since the first one in 1925 – over two days in the city’s central business district (CBD).

Held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre on 5-6 April 2025, the new Melbourne Motor Show covered over 20,000 square metres, displaying cars, motorcycles, and other ancillary exhibits, as well as entertainment. I was coincidentally in Melbourne and spent the day there.

The Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre is a sprawling building on the banks of the Yarra River in the CBD.

Views of the MCEC from outside:

Even before we enter the main exhibition area (ticketed, A$38.50 including taxes), BYD have their range of cars on display, which are available in Australia.

It so happened that my daughter & I met up with my former Low Risk Driving trainer & good friend John Ristell at the MCEC. He has been working closely with BYD, putting the Shark 6 through its paces on off-road tracks & demonstrating its immense capabilities. He's even been to China, visiting BYD's factory and test-driving most of their production cars. And he's very, very impressed!

We also met up with BHPian rideon and his friends there:
