Petrolheads share their automotive resolutions for 2025; what's yours?

I am in a hurry to enjoy my ICE cars before they become extinct and are in museums.

BHPian Mystic recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

I was just browsing through the threads and I found a similar thread for year 2020 of the same captioned subject. It was COVID time and hence the thought process in general for new year resolutions, let alone automotive related doesn't exist as everyone was trying to survive the pandemic challenges.

Coming to myself personally post retirement as a senior citizen, it makes a lot of sense to have a set agenda and stick to it. When it comes to automobiles, even the Government wants to be sure if our DL need to be renewed every 5 years to make sure we are fit to drive etc.

Being a teambhp reader for past 2 decades and a member only after retirement, my interest in anything related to automotive has become a full time job now. I am very unpopular in my family circles and they are very cautious to not bring this topic in any of our family functions as I may totally dominate the conversation and not liked by all.

Coming to my automotive resolutions in general and 2025 in particular:

1. Be on the road as much as possible especially long drives ( avoid highways and take detours covering the remote villages and enjoy the smiles of the people ) covering the length and breadth of this beautiful country. Make the agenda of the trips revolve around temples to keep my passengers happy.

2. Exercise daily and no exceptions even on a long drive ( Enjoy nature and watch sunrise and sunset everyday). Walking makes one stay alert and healthy in long drives especially driving after a heavy lunch. I usually stop at a safe distance from the highway and walk when feeling drowsy which automatically makes me become attentive.

3. Eat to live and not live to eat. Cut food intake to a bare minimum, otherwise we need to eat medicine at a later stage instead of food. Being a foody myself, this is difficult especially when trying local cuisines on long drives and getting tempted to eat more. Some people are blessed naturally by God like my wife who is maintaining less than 50 kgs always in spite of having a son who is a professor.

4. I am in a hurry to enjoy my ICE cars before they become extinct and are in museums. Hence enjoy before it is too late.

5. I want to avoid joining the very tempting EV club in 2025. May be if the infrastructure for EV chargers become a norm across India roads, then jump to EV in 2026.

Great thread, man

- Participate in one of the international trips that car manufacturers invite us for. Usually, it's the Mod Team that goes. In 2025, I plan to go for one.

- Upgrade the stock sound system of my Thar. While the OEM audio isn't bad for an open Jeep, the itch for an audio upgrade has started.

- I love motorcycles, but refuse to own one as IMHO, our roads are filled with too many idiots - I don't want to place my life in their hands. On the other hand, I want to go for a motorcycle track day or two. Ride a nice bike in a controlled environment & enjoy revving the nuts off those high-rpm motorcycle motors.

- Figure out how long to keep my 530d. It's now entered the 12th year and is performing flawlessly - fast, luxurious, fun, comfortable, reliable. Have my eyes set on an upgrade, but it's getting hard to let go of such a perfectly running 310-BHP sedan.

- Go for a road-trip with my siblings (just siblings), like the old times in school & college. The way brothers & sisters laugh together is like no other.

- Start wearing Team-BHP tshirts in all the new colours . Right now, I only wear the black & red ones.

Here's mine!

1 : Get my license applied and start driving safely, while also trying to take in different cars and experiences

2 : Go on a bike ride with friends

3 : Get a hold of a Hunter 350, Continental GT650 and experience that feeling.

4 : Experience sunrises & sunsets at different places, go on long drives, maybe with BHP-ians as well!

5 : Try to.enjoy ICE before the EVs start replacing them!

Not a resolution as such, but my goals are
1. Try to be calmer when driving around stupid people
2. Drive more, take more short drives
3. Take more pictures of my Garuda (Sonet)
4. Get my wife to learn to drive

Here's what BHPian DicKy replied:

1. Get my two wheeler driving license.
2. Do some much needed small work and maintenance for our car entering its 9th year.
3. Make time for atleast a short 300km circuit solo road trip.
4. Have missed on many of the international launches in the last 2-3 years. Sit and watch proper walkaround video of them on YouTube. Damn, Instagram has ruined my attention span.
5. Pop my BEV cherry this year.
6. Visit the Geedee museum once more. Last visited it before renovation.
7. Drive on a proper race track.
8. My driving style has gone down the drain and have become cocky post covid. Tone it down.
