Nicky Hayden critically injured in bicycle accident

Former MotoGP champion Nicky Hayden has been seriously injured in a bicycle accident in Italy. The American rider currently competes in the World Superbike championship under the Honda factory team. He has sustained some major injuries on the head and chest.

Hayden was on a bicycle run with his friends near Rimini when a car collided with his bicycle. The rider ended up on the hood of the car and suffered some impact from the windshield. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in Rimini. Recent reports suggest that the rider has now been shifted to the Bufalini hospital in Cesena and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Hayden is said to have been training on his bicycle after participating in the fifth round of the 2017 Superbike Word Championship at the Imola race track. The 35-year-old rider had finished 12th in last weekend's race. He participated in MotoGP from 2003 to 2015 and won the world championship title in 2006.
