Next generation Honda Civic spied on test!

A concept showcase followed by leaked sketches of the design and the next generation Honda Civic has now been now been caught on test. Seen here in a left hand drive guise, the car wearing UK plates was spied testing in Germany. The car is expected to first go on sale in the USA later this year as a 2016 model year.

The new Civic will be the first U.S model to apply the new VTEC turbo engines from the company's Earth Dreams Technology powertrain series. The Civic will be offered with a 1.5L, direct-injection, turbo-VTEC engine that can be mated with a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic. Safety features will include lane departure warning, forward collision warning, multi-angle rearview camera, adaptive cruise control and Honda LaneWatch.

The US-spec Civic Sedan will be produced in Greensburg, Indiana and in Alliston, Ontario together with the Coupe and Si. The five-door hatchback on the other hand will be built in the United Kingdom at the factory in Swindon, England.
