Next gen Toyota Fortuner test mules spotted in Thailand

Test mules of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner have been spotted doing test runs in Thailand.

The front end of the Fortuner looks a lot less bulky and more roundish compared to the existing one. The headlights seem slimmer and sleeker too. Revisions to the grill and front bumper are expected with the car, sporting Toyota's new design language, similar to the recently spotted Innova. The hood scoop seems to be missing, which gave the current gen Fortuner a rather aggressive look.

The Fortuner seems to be shod with new, diamond cut 17 inch wheels. The overall side profile seems similar to the outgoing car; however, the rear quarter glass seems to be redesigned.

At the rear the tail lights seem to be horizontal, wrap around type which again, seem sleeker and futuristic than the current gen one. The tail gate and bumper are expected to be redesigned too. The rear wiper is smaller and more modern looking.

Ever since its launch in 2009, the Fortuner has been dominating the SUV segment in India. The Fortuner is available, in India, with a 3.0L Diesel engine available with 5 speed manual or automatic transmission, in a 4 wheel drive or a 2 wheel drive configuration. There were reports that Toyota will introduce a 2.5L Diesel in the Fortuner later this year.
