Next-gen Skoda Octavia RS unveiled

The fourth generation Octavia was unveiled in Europe last year. Now, the carmaker has revealed the sportier Octavia RS based on the 4th-gen car.

Just like the Octavia RS 245 that is currently on sale in India, the new model also features a sporty exterior with a black grille and smoked headlamps. The car has a lip spoiler and twin exhaust tips at the rear and it rides on dual-tone alloy wheels that come in either 18-inch or 19-inch sizes.

On the inside, the new Octavia RS comes with bolstered seats with massage function. The interior features Alcantara upholstery and has faux carbon fibre trim.

In Europe, the new Octavia RS is available with a 2.0-litre, turbo petrol engine that produces 241 BHP and 370 Nm. The engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The car is also offered with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 197 BHP and 400 Nm. This engine is only available with the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Compared to the regular Octavia, the ride height of the RS models is lowered by 15 mm. Dynamic Chassis Control with electronically adaptable suspension is available as an option. Further, the petrol variant gets a limited slip differential.
