Next-gen Honda Civic patent sketches leaked!

Honda may have pulled the D1 segment Civic out of the Indian car market, but the car remains a flagship seller for the brand in globally. After recently debuting the 10th generation Honda Civic Coupe Concept, patent sketches of the model’s sedan and coupe versions have just been leaked.

The new Civic line-up will include the Civic Sedan, Coupe and Si models, along with the return of the Civic hatchback, followed by the launch of a new Civic Type-R. Understandably, the sketches show the more subtle design of the production cars in comparison to concept that was showcased at the New York motor show. Going by the sketches, the car will get a silver “flying H” front grille with similar accents above the swept-back headlamps, a small air dam with large air vents to the sides of the front bumper, ORVMs that are a mix of black and the body colour, chrome garnish along the window lining and two character lines on the body side-panels.

The car will also get the same tail light as the concept coupe, but while it will connect over the boot lid on the coupe, that won’t be the case with the sedan. The coupe will also get a more aggressively styled rear bumper than the sedan.

The new Civic will have a larger wheelbase, shorter overhangs and will be wider than the outgoing model. The car will also sit lower, but the ground clearance could differ depending on the market. The new Civic will be the first U.S model to apply the new VTEC turbo engines from the company's Earth Dreams Technology powertrain series. The Civic will be offered with a 1.5L, direct-injection, turbo-VTEC engine that can be mated with a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic.
