New Suzuki hatchback spied testing. Is it the YRA?

We had reported earlier this year that Maruti Suzuki could be developing a hatchback (codenamed YRA) that is likely to compete in the B+ segment and will be positioned above the Swift. Now a new hatchback from Suzuki has been spotted testing, confirming that the company is indeed working on a new model for the premium hatchback market. The international media claims that the car could be called the Baleno.

Images of the car have surfaced on the internet showing it wearing heavy cladding, which suggests that it is still in its preliminary testing stages. While not much can be said on the design of the car, the images indicate that the hatchback will be a lot larger that the Swift with better leg room and boot space.

The YRA is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol power plant that puts out 90 bhp and can average 20 km/l. It is expected to be launched in the second half of 2015 and will compete with the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
