Motorsport racer Ashwin Sundar passes away in road accident

Professional motorsport racing champion, Ashwin Sundar, and his wife Nivedhitha passed away in a road accident in Chennai last night. The couple was traveling in their BMW car, which crashed into a tree on the Santhome High Road. The crash resulted in the car bursting into flames and the two occupants couldn't manage to get out in time.

Reports suggest that the car got stuck between the tree and a wall, which trapped the couple inside. Passersby and eyewitnesses to the accident were reportedly unable to help due to the huge flames erupting from the vehicle. The police and fire department were alerted about the incident immediately, though by the time their teams reached the spot and doused the fire, it was too late to save the couple.

Ashwin Sundar (27) was a renowned racing driver. He had won the national championships in the LGB F4 category for two consecutive years - 2012 and 2013. His wife, Nivedhitha (26), was a doctor in a private hospital.
