Mercedes-Benz C 250 d launched in India at Rs. 44.36 lakh

Mercedes-Benz has launched the C 250 d sedan in India at a price of Rs. 44.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). The car is positioned above the C 200 and C 220 d variants in the C-Class line-up.

The C 250 d is powered by a 2,143cc, 4-cylinder diesel engine that develops 201 BHP @ 3,800 rpm and 500 Nm of torque @ 1,600-1,800 rpm. The car uses a 9-speed automatic (9G-Tronic) transmission. Mercedes-Benz claims that the C 250 d can do the 0-100 kph sprint in 6.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 247 kph. The company also claims that the emissions levels of the car are below the regulatory limits - 30% below the stipulated NOX limits and 60% below the stipulated particulate matter limit. The engine features an ECO start/stop function and the claimed fuel efficiency of the C 250 d is 19.71 kpl.

The C 250 d features an all-LED Intelligent Light System as standard. This system automatically adjusts the headlamps based on weather, lighting and driving conditions. It has a variable low beam for country roads and motorways, which is supported with an active light function for better illumination on bends. The brightness of the brake lights varies according to the light conditions. The car is fitted with 17-inch, 5 twin-spoke alloy wheels finished in Vanadium Silver.

Garmin Map Pilot is also part of standard equipment. It has a 7-inch multimedia screen and the navigation software and map data is set on an SD Card. It also displays instructions in the instrument cluster for the driver and includes voice guidance too. Additionally the C 250 d comes with ambient lighting as a standard feature. It has three different colours - Solar (amber), Polar (ice blue) and Neutral (white), and has five dimming levels.

Safety features include ABS, BAS, ESP, ASR, Hill Start Assist and Attention Assist, which warns the driver when it detects signs of drowsiness in steering behaviour. The car is also equipped with active parking assist with Parktronic and a reversing camera with a 180-degree view.

Mercedes-Benz will build the C 250 d at its plant in Chakan, Maharashtra.
