Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 launched in India at Rs. 77.5 lakh

The Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 has been launched in India at prices starting from Rs. 77.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The SLC 43 roadster is the first model from the German automaker to adorn the '43' nomenclature in the country. It will replace the Mercedes-AMG SLK 55 in the Indian market.

Aesthetically, the SLC is a comprehensively tweaked version of the outgoing SLK. Though the side profile and silhouette of the new roadster remain similar to that of the SLK, the front fascia has been updated. The grille gets characteristic diamond pattern treatment and the swept back headlights come with a dual-beam setup and LED Daytime Running Lamps. The rear gets revised LED taillights, diffuser-look rear bumper with silver chrome trim, and AMG sports exhaust system with chrome-plated dual exhaust tips.

On the inside, the SLC 43 gets a larger display for the Comand system and a redesigned instrument cluster. It also comes with a new AMG steering wheel, sports seats, and red seat belts. Being a roadster, the SLC 43 gets a hard top convertible roof, which can be electronically operated even at speeds up to 40 km/h. This is unlike its predecessor's roof, which could be operated only when the car was standstill.

The new Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 is powered by a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo V6 engine, that churns out 362 BHP and 520 Nm of torque. This power plant is mated to the company's new 9-speed automatic gearbox. Mercedes claims that the SLC 43 can go from 0-100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds, before hitting its electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. Additionally, the car comes with five driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and individual.

The Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 in India will compete against the BMW Z4.
