Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 to launch in India on July 26

Mercedes-Benz has announced July 26, 2016 as the launch date of the Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 roadster in India. The SLC 43 will be the first ever car with the '43' nomenclature to be sold in the Indian market and will replace the ageing SLK 55 AMG.

Globally, the SLK was replaced when Mercedes introduced the SLC at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show. It is within six months of its global premiere that the SLC is arriving in India.

Cosmetically, the SLC 43 is a modernized version of the SLK's design. The front fascia reminds one of the Mercedes A-Class, thanks to the characteristic diamond pattern grille, and a prominent Mercedes logo that sits atop a single chrome slat in the grille. The headlamps are sweptback and feature a dual-beam setup and LED DRLs. The tail gets a new bumper that houses the chrome-tipped dual exhausts.

On the power front, the SLC gets a 3.0-litre, V6 Bi-Turbo engine that churns out 362 BHP @ 5,500-6,000 rpm, and 520 Nm of torque @ 2,000-4,200 rpm. This engine is mated to a 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox that transmits power to the rear wheels.

Mercedes-Benz claims that the SLC 43 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds, and can touch an electrically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
