Mercedes-AMG EQE unveiled: 677 BHP & 0-100km/h in 3.3 seconds

The new Mercedes-AMG EQE will rival the likes of the Porsche Taycan.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the AMG version of its all-electric EQE saloon. The new Mercedes-AMG EQE will be offered in two trims: EQE 43 4MATIC and EQE 53 4MATIC+.

In terms of design, both AMG variants build on the EQE 350 model in the brand's lineup. The EQE 43 and EQE 53 come with a host of AMG-specific upgrades, including a black panel at the front with vertical struts, AMG-specific projector headlamps, light-weight AMG alloy wheels and a large rear spoiler at the rear.

Similarly, the interiors also come with a host of AMG-specific updates, such as the sporty seats with ARTICO man-made leather upholstery with contrast stitching, AMG badges all around and a flat-bottom AMG steering wheel. The sporty electric sedan also comes with a special set of artificial sounds, called "AMG Sound Experience", which changes depending on the drive mode selected. There is also a dedicated sound when using the Race Start mode.

The Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 comes with dual electric motors (one on each axle), producing a combined output of 469 BHP and 855 Nm. The base trim is said to be capable of sprinting from 0 - 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and can reach a top speed of 210 km/h.

The range-topping EQE 53, on the other hand, comes with a similar dual-motor setup but produces 617 BHP and 950 Nm as standard. This can be further increased to 677 BHP and 1000 Nm with the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package. With the performance package, the AMG EQE 53 is capable of sprinting from 0 - 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 240 km/h.
