Maruti Swift to get 1.2L DualJet engine, mild hybrid system

According to a media report, the Maruti Swift could get a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre DualJet engine. The same engine is offered on the Baleno.

Along with the engine, the car is also likely to get the mild hybrid system that consists of a Lithium-ion battery and a belt starter generator. The car is expected to get features like Torque assist function, idle start stop and brake energy regeneration. This Swift could get a better ARAI fuel efficiency rating than the current K12B engine. The existing engine is also likely to be sold alongside in the lower / automatic variants. The Swift is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional AMT.

The dual jet engine develops 89 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm @ 4,400 in the Baleno. It is only paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and not the CVT. According to Maruti, the new engine offers better combustion efficiency and reduced friction. It uses on-board sensors for precise fuel injection.
