Maruti Suzuki YRA (Baleno) spied without camouflage

Production-ready units of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YRA hatchback have been spotted. The car will be called Baleno in international markets.

The spy shots show the YRA in various colours. According to reports, the car will be available in a total of six colours - white, blue, silver, black red and orange. The cars in the pictures are all right-hand drive.

The Baleno is based on the iK-2 concept that was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. It gets sweptback headlamps, a V-shaped honeycomb grille, a wide air dam with horizontal slats, ORVMs with integrated turn-indicators, blackened A and B-pillars, wraparound tail lamps alloy wheels and a roof-mounted rear spoiler.

In India, engine options for the Baleno are likely to include the company's 1.2-litre petrol (K12C) and a 1.3-litre diesel (200 DDiS) units. The car could also use Suzuki's SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System) technology, which had been seen in the recently-launched Ciaz SHVS. A 1.4-litre petrol (K14) engine might also be on offer. In international markets, the car will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine.

Maruti will manufacture the Baleno at its facility in Manesar and export it to various countries around the world, including Japan.

The Baleno is expected to be positioned above the Swift hatchback.
