Maruti Suzuki is developing a range of CNG models that will be launched in the near future. Besides the Swift and Dzire CNG, the carmaker is also working on a CNG variant of the Vitara Brezza.
According to a recent leak, the Vitara Brezza CNG is likely to be powered by a 1,462cc, K15B petrol engine. It produces 103 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm @ 4,400 rpm. However, when running on CNG, the overall output drops to 91 BHP and 122 Nm. The engine is likely to be mated with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Just like other S-CNG models in Maruti's line-up, the Vitara Brezza CNG would also receive revised suspension and brakes to cope with the added weight of the CNG tank. It will also feature dual inter-dependent ECUs.
At present, Maruti offers a factory-fitted CNG option in models like the S-Presso, Alto, WagonR, Celerio, Ertiga and Eeco.
