After tasting success with the Ertiga and the Dzire, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch 6 new cars in the price range of Rs.6 lakhs to Rs.14 lakhs, within the next 2 years.
Previously, Maruti Suzuki launched the SX4, Grand Vitara and Kizashi, all of which had dismal sales in the Indian market. This was mainly due to the company's image of catering to the mass market. However, now Maruti Suzuki is changing its approach and focussing its efforts on a more premium range of vehicles, with a slew of new launches lined up within the next 2 years.
The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is the first car among the rest, which the company is likely to replace the ageing SX4 sedan with, in the July-September quarter of this year. The Ciaz sedan will take on the segment leader - Honda City head on. The Suzuki S-Cross too is expected by the end of the year, to compete with the likes of XUV500 and the Renault Duster. A compact SUV based on the XA-Alpha concept and a premium hatchback are also part of Maruti's line up in the coming months.
Maruti Suzuki is clearly stepping up its game and with a new approach; it seems all set to venture into segments that it previously never entered.
