Maruti Dzire 19 lakh sales up

Maruti launched the Dzire brand over 10 years ago. Since then, the company has sold 19 lakh units of the sedan. The Dzire is the highest selling model in this segment with a market share of 55%.

According to Maruti Suzuki, 1.5 lakh units of the Dzire were sold in 2009-10. Total sales crossed the 5.3-lakh mark in 2012-13 and 11 lakh in 2015-16. By the end of 2018, Maruti had sold 16 lakh units of the compact sedan. In 2018-19, Maruti sold 2.5 lakh units of the model, averaging monthly sales of over 21,000 units. 

The Maruti Dzire is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine which makes 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque @ 4,200 rpm. The diesel version employs a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder oil burner that puts out 74 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm @ 2,000 rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT.
