Maruti builds Baleno 1.5L, but only for exports

This K15B 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol unit produces 103 BHP and 138 Nm.

The 2022 Maruti Baleno was launched earlier this week. In India, the car is available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine. However, the carmaker has confirmed that export markets will get a more powerful 1.5-litre engine. 

This K15B 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol unit produces 103 BHP and 138 Nm. Whereas the 1.2-litre motor offered in the Indian market makes just 89 BHP and 113 Nm. 

Apart from the more potent engine, the export-spec Baleno is expected to be similar to the Indian model. The refreshed hatchback gets a revised front and rear design with new LED headlamps and tail lights. 

The interior has also been updated with a new dashboard and a floating 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system. It gets features like a head-up display, 6 airbags and ESP.
