Martin Winterkorn quits as Audi, Truck and Bus GmbH chairman

The emissions scandal that made Martin Winterkorn quit as VW group CEO has now seen him resign as Audi's chairman of the board as well, with no word on who his successor will be. While Winterkorn resigned from his post as VW CEO in September, he held on to other posts in company, which he is now relinquishing.

Apart from Audi, he has also resigned as chairman of Truck and Bus GmbH i.e. the holding company that included the MAN and Scania commercial vehicle brands (but not VW commercial vehicles), that was announced only in May this year.

The emissions scandal has seen high level exits and extensive restructuring at the VW group. What was initially a scandal limited to VW's smaller diesel engines, is now believed to have extended to the 3.0L V6 diesel engine as well as 98,000 petrol cars.
