Mahindra to unveil new 110 cc scooter at Auto Expo 2014

Mahindra Two Wheelers is rumoured to be working on a new 110 cc scooter with an automatic transmission, which will be showcased at the Auto Expo in February 2014. A report by Autocar India claims that the G101, as the bike is codenamed, is in the final stage of development.

At present, Mahindra has a line-up of four scooter models – Rodeo, Duro, Flyte and Kine. While the Kine is powered by a 71.5 cc, single-cylinder engine, the other three use a 124.6 cc unit. Mahindra plans to expand its range by adding atleast two more models. One of them will have an all-new engine.

For the moment, Mahindra is prioritising the development of the G101 scooter. Next in line is the 300 cc Mojo motorcycle.

Mahindra Two Wheelers sold a total of 79,909 scooters in the period April – November 2012. For the same period in 2013, it has managed a sales figure of just 36,763, which is a drop of 54%. However, when it comes to motorcycles, the company has fared a lot better. The Centuro, which was launched in July, has sold more than 73,000 units. In the period April – November 2013, Mahindra has sold a total of 85,380 bikes.
