Mahindra launches the e2o at 5.96 lakhs

Mahindra has launched its electric car - the e20 - at a price of Rs. 5.96 to 6.24 lakhs (on the road, Delhi). This price includes the subsidy provided by Delhi authorities. Outside of Delhi however, the e2o is prohibitively expensive for a small 2-door electric car (more details).

Highlights: 

• 2 door hatchback
• Dent-resistant body panels
• Seating capacity of 4 adults
• Annual service interval. Mahindra will provide at-home servicing to customers from select cities
• Manufactured at Mahindra-Reva's eco-friendly facility in Bangalore. Production capacity of 30,000 units per annum
• The company will be setting up 100 public charging stations in Delhi & Bangalore
• Initial launch covers 8 cities through 29 dealerships

• 3-phase electric motor with 25.47 BHP (3,750 rpm) and 53 Nm torque
• Max torque available at 0 rpm (inherent to electric motors), continuing all the way to 3,400 rpm

• 100 km battery range under 'ideal test conditions'. Expect real-world range to be 20 - 30% lesser
• 5 hours to fully charge the battery. 1 hour quick charge can deliver a 20 km range
