Land Rover L860 SUV to use Tata Harrier platform

According to a media report, Land Rover is working on a new SUV that is said to be based on the Omega-Arc platform used by the Tata Harrier. The new model codenamed L860 could be positioned below the Discover Sport.

The Omega-Arc platform is derived from Land Rover's D8 platform, which was used by the original Evoque and Discovery Sport. It is designed to support plug-in hybrid powertrains as well.

As far as suspension is concerned, the Harrier uses a beam axle at the rear, while the L860 is expected to get a multi-link setup with both, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. Besides this, it is expected to get a different front suspension setup and a more refined front subframe.

The report suggest that the Land Rover L860 could be offered with 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder Ingenium engines in turbocharged and mild-hybrid versions. Initially, the L860 is expected to be available with front-wheel drive.

It is rumoured that the Land Rover L860 will be launched in 2021.
