Kia is the fastest manufacturer to sell 2 lakh cars in India

Kia has sold 2 lakh cars in India in just 17 months to become the fastest carmaker to reach this milestone.

Kia sales in India had crossed the 1 lakh mark in July 2020. The next 1 lakh units were sold in a record period of 6 months.

Kia currently offers three models in India - Seltos, Sonet and the Carnival MPV. According to the company, nearly 60% of the total cars sold were top-end variants. Over 1.06 lakh cars sold are equipped with the UVO connect feature, which is 53% of the brand's total sales.

The Seltos is the highest selling model with 1,49,428 units. The carmaker has sold 45,195 units of the Sonet and 5,409 units of the Carnival.

Kia's manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh is currently running on two shifts. The carmaker plans to operate three shifts and aims to fully utilize the capacity of 3 lakh units per annum by 2022. The next step for the brand will be to expand its network into Tier III and Tier IV markets.
