Kia to launch two mass-market EVs in India in 2025

Kia plans to launch the EV9 later this year, followed by the Carens EV and Clavis EV in 2025.

Kia plans to launch two mass-market EVs in the Indian market in the next 18 months. Ho Sung Song, President & CEO of Kia, announced this during the CEO Investor Day 2024. He also revealed that the Kia EV9 will be launched in India later this year.

According to Ho Sung Song, one of the mass-market EVs planned for India is the Carens EV. While he stopped short of revealing the second model, reports suggest that it is likely to be the Clavis EV. Both models will launch in the second half of 2025.

Kia also announced its future roadmap for EVs, HEVs and PBVs (Purpose Built Vehicles). By 2027, the company plans to launch 15 new EVs, starting with the EV3 this year, followed by the EV2, EV4 and EV5.

“The goal for 2026 is to achieve sales of 5,87,000 units of mass EV models, with the aim of accounting for 66% of total EV sales,” Song said. “The EV sales target of 1.6 million units by 2030 requires selling 1.3 million more units than in 2024. The proportion of EV sales in major markets is planned to grow from 13% in 2024 to 52% by 2030, with the Korean and North American markets reaching up to 40%, and Europe up to 79%,” he added.
