Kerala Police dept. purchases 44 Force Gurkhas

The Kerala police fleet also includes 72 Mahindra Boleros.

The Kerala Police department has purchased 44 Force Gurkhas. The vehicles will be put into service at police stations located in hilly and Naxal affected areas.

According to a media report, this is the first time the Kerala Police have procured the Force Gurkha. The police fleet also includes 72 Mahindra Boleros. The vehicles will soon be deployed to various stations across the state.

The new Gurkha was launched in September last year. The off-roader is powered by a 2.6-litre diesel engine that produces 90 BHP and 250 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a four-wheel-drive system. The Gurkha also gets a low range gearbox and a locking differential.
