Karun Chandhok to race at 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours

Indian racer Karun Chandhok, has announced that he will participate in the 2015 Le Mans 24 hours race, scheduled to be held on June 13-14.

Karun will compete in the Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) category and will once again, drive for the Dublin-based Murphy Prototypes Endurance Racing Team alongside Formula 2 driver, Nathaniel Berthon and Mark Patterson. The car he will be driving is a Nissan-powered Oreca 03R. Murphy Prototypes' best result came in 2013, finishing the event twelfth overall and sixth in class. Karun was a part of the team then as well.

Karun has participated in various levels of motorsport including Le Mans and Formula 1. At present he drives for Mahindra Racing in the Formula E championships.

The Le Mans 24 hours race, features a circuit 13.6 kilometres long, which winds through the French countryside. Cars touch top speeds of 315 kph and the race distance is more than 5000 km, which is equal to about 16 F1 races. 2014 saw a record 2,63,300 spectators at the circuit. The race traditionally starts at 3 pm on a Saturday and finishes at 3 pm on Sunday.
