Jeep Compass spotted testing in India

After making its global debut in Brazil earlier this year, the 2017 Jeep Compass has been spotted testing on public roads in India. Though the spotted prototype is heavily camouflaged, the taillights and bumper design are a giveaway about it being the Compass.

Jeep has already confirmed that the Compass will eventually be making its way into India's growing SUV space. It will be the first product from the American brand to be assembled at Fiat India's Ranjangaon Plant.

The India-spec model will likely be powered by a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, MultiJet II diesel engine that churns out around 170 BHP. It is likely to be offered in 2WD and 4WD configurations.

The Compass is expected to be placed between Jeep's flagship offering - the Grand Cherokee and the yet to be launched Renegade. Media reports claim a starting price of around Rs. 20 lakh for the locally assembled Compass.
