JCB inaugurates 2 new plants in Jaipur

JCB India Limited, a fully-owned subsidiary of JC Bamford Excavators Limited, UK, manufacturers of earthmoving and construction equipment has inaugurated two new plants in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

JCB has invested Rs. 500 crores for setting up the new plants, which are located on 115 acres of land at a distance of 35 km from Jaipur city. The site is home to JCB’s single largest manufacturing facility in India. When operating at full capacity, it will employ around 1,000 people. Component manufacturing is already underway at one of the Jaipur plants and next year production of telescopic handlers and skid steer loaders for the Indian market will begin. The facility will also provide additional backhoe loader capacity from 2015.

The company claims that the new factories have been built incorporating world-class ecological developments, including water management, rainwater harvesting, solar power and daylight optimization. The Jaipur site has also been landscaped to JCB’s very exacting global standards.

With the addition of the two new plants, the total number of JCB's factories in India has gone up to five. The company’s other three manufacturing facilities include the world's largest backhoe loader factory, located in Ballabgarh, Haryana and two factories in Pune, which manufacture fabrications and components. mainly for export. The also manufacture heavy equipment, including large excavators, wheeled loading shovels and compaction equipment.

JCB India has a distribution network with 60 dealers and 600 outlets. The company manufactures twenty-five different machines in seven product lines such as backhoe loaders, wheeled loading shovels, tracked excavators, vibratory compactors, telehandlers, skid steer loaders and pick and carry cranes.
