Japan: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition launched

Mitsubishi’s flagship performance sedan the Lancer Evolution is on its way out. After announcing the last hurrah of the Evo in the form of the Lancer Evo X Final Concept, the Japanese automaker has now revealed the final production version of the iconic car. The Lancer Evolution Final Edition has been launched in Japan and only 1,000 units of the car will be produced, starting August this year.

The car draws inspiration from the final concept and though it still uses a 2.0L engine, the car doesn’t get the HKS tuned 473 BHP output. Instead, the engine output is rated at around 296 BHP. Based on the GSR trim, the car comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Added features include 18-inch wheels from BBS, Bilstein shocks with Eibach springs, and Brembo two-piece brake rotors.

Buyers have a choice of 5 exterior colours and the roof panel can be painted black or white as well and the car gets a custom “Final Edition” badge at the back. On the inside, the Recaro bucket seats, steering wheel, gear knob and hand-brake get red contrast stitching along with a commemorative plaque on the centre console.
