Jaguar recalls 1,00,000 cars in US over faulty airbags

Tata Motors owned Jaguar Land Rover has issued a recall in the United States in order to fix faulty airbags. This recall affects around 1,00,000 units of the outgoing Jaguar XF sedan sold in the US.

The Jaguar airbag recall is a part of the massive recall drives that are currently underway globally. Takata, the largest supplier of airbags, has been found guilty of producing faulty airbag inflators that might emit metal fragments in case of a crash. This can result in the airbag getting torn and thus can cause injuries to the occupants. Around 13 deaths and 100 injuries have been reported due to the aforementioned faulty airbags.

As a result, many global automotive manufacturers have recalled over 35-40 million cars in the US. Automakers like Toyota and Ford have already parted ways from Takata as their airbag supplier. This has resulted in huge losses and financial crunch at Takata's end.
