Isuzu MU-X launched in India at Rs. 23.99 lakh

Isuzu has launched the MU-X in India. It is available in two variants - 4x2 AT and 4x4 AT, priced at Rs. 23.99 lakh and Rs. 25.99 lakh respectively. This SUV replaces the MU-7, which has been on sale in India since 2013.

The MU-X is built on the same platform that underpins the D-Max V-Cross and the Chevrolet Trailblazer. It also borrows various design cues and components from these two cars, especially on the inside. The various features on offer include projector headlamps, LED DRLs, auto climate control, 6-way power adjustable driver seat, cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a roof-mounted 10-inch DVD entertainment monitor.

The SUV's safety kit includes anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), brake assist, electronic stability control (ESC), rear parking camera, traction control system (TCS), hill start assist (HSA), dual front airbags and front seatbelt pre-tensioners with load limiters.

Powering the Isuzu MU-X is a 3.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 174 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 380 Nm of torque @ 1,800 - 2,800 rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed sequential shift automatic gearbox. This powertrain delivers a company-claimed fuel economy of 13.8 km/l. The SUV also comes with a 'shift on the fly' 4x4 drive setup, along with terrain command control.

Isuzu has also announced that its manufacturing plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh will become a global manufacturing hub for the automaker. The company already exports its products to Nepal and will now start shipping them to other markets as well.
