I won't say it's a complicated process. It is straightforward if you have all the documents and the process is followed.

Can anyone advice on how to get the dedicated EV charging meter connection from MSEDCL in Mumbai or Thane?
- Per unit rate (seems to be Rs 7.75 now)
- Any fixed charges per month
- how long the process takes, total cost of getting the meter installed, and is it a lot of hassle?
I took a 7KW dedicated EV connection from MSEDCL here in Pune. Here are the steps.
- You need to submit an online application first. Here is the link
- Select "Electric Vehicle Charging Station(EVCS)" option in the bottom right of the page.
- Once the application is submitted, take the confirmation printout.
- Take the undertaking on Rs.100 stamp paper and get it notarized. The undertaking draft is here.
- Take the complete document set along with your existing electricity bill, application confirmation, and undertaking and visit the MSEB office.
- They will verify the documents and request a signed form from the MSEB electrician.
- You need to contact the MSEB electrician. There is a form that you will get from the MSEB office that you can print out. The MSEB electrician will sign on this form, stating that your place is good to install the meter.
- With this form, you must revisit the MSEB office.
- After verifying everything, the officer will sign the application and ask you to pay for the connection.
- Once the payment is made, an MSEB electrician will install the meter within a week.
- The whole process, from online application to meter installation, took three weeks.
Documents needed
- Online application confirmation
- Aadhar card
- Electricity Bill
- Index 2 copy
- Property tax bill
- Undertaking on Rs.100 stamp
- Form signed by MSEB electrician
I have paid Rs.11460 to MSEB—no additional cost is required.
Things to remember. Please prepare yourself accordingly.
1) The officer will ask if there is a place to install a charger in your parking.
2) The office will ask if you have taken permission from your society committee. In my case, I told them chargers are already installed in the society, and the committee should be okay with it. The MSEB Officer accepted my verbal response and proceeded with the approval.
3) The MSEB electrician is one of the busiest people. You need to chase him continuously to get a sign on the form and install the meter.
4) You can make the payment online.
I won't say it's a complicated process. It is straightforward if you have all the documents and the process is followed. Feel free to PM if you need help.
