Indonesia: WagonR Stingray gets an AMT

Maruti Suzuki has introduced the AMT transmission on the Celerio and Alto K10 in India so far. In 2014, it was reported that the WagonR Stingray would receive an AMT transmission as well. While Maruti Suzuki hasn’t confirmed these plans, the car will be offered with an AMT box in Indonesia.

The AMT equipped WagonR Stingray comes in 3 variants. The base GL/AT is priced at 113 million Rupiah (INR 5.51 lakh approx.), the mid GX/AT is priced at 120 million Rupiah (INR 5.85 lakh approx.), while the top end GS/AT is priced at 121.5 million Rupiah (INR 5.92 lakh approx.).

The gearbox is the same Magneti unit that is used on the Alto K10 and Celerio. Magneti Marelli is setting up a production facility in India, to produce the transmission and Maruti Suzuki is working closely with the Italian brand to speed up the supply. Apart from the WagonR Stingray, the facelifted Ertiga is also expected to feature the gearbox.
