Ford EcoSport compact SUVs imported from India have been recalled in Europe for improper lower control arm welds.
According to an alert posted on the European Commission's website, the incorrect welds may cause the front wheel assembly to hit the wheel arch. This could cause the front wheel to lock up resulting in loss of steering control. Cars built between May 2, 2017 and June 10, 2017 have been affected by this recall. The alert also states the risk of injury as serious.
In the UK, the EcoSport is offered with a choice two engines - 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel.
