Impressed by Mahindra's proactive steps to fix an issue on my XUV700

I got a call from someone at Mahindra's social media team who had apparently seen my post here.

BHPian vikash49 recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Had taken my 5-month-old XUV 700 AX7 Petrol AT to a reception today. While going, the horn started sounding funny, kind of like it had lost its voice. Intermittently it would sound normal. I suspected one of the low-tone horns had a loose connection. I reached the venue and parked the car.

While returning, when the valet bought the car, I noticed only the left headlamp was on.

I fiddled with the switches and noticed the following issues:

  • Front right low beam unit is non-functional
  • Front right sequential indicator is non-functional
  • Both high beams are non-functional
  • Both DRLs are non-functional
  • Both Fog lamps are non-functional
  • Both cornering lamps are non-functional
  • One horn is non-functional
  • Driver seat welcome feature is non-functional
  • Also, the left headlamp is direct now and turns on when switching on the car even if the headlamp switch is off.
  • I fiddled with the settings and even did a factory reset but it did not help.

Shall visit the SVC tomorrow.

Update: So sometime in the morning, when I was on my way to the SVC, I got a call from someone at Mahindra's social media team who had apparently seen my post here. He wanted to understand my problem and after hearing me out he asked me to take my car to the SVC and that he would escalate my case to the concerned team.

On reaching there, I was attended to swiftly by my SA and they opened up the front bumper to reveal that two wiring harnesses had suffered rodent damage. They looked up the part nos on their system but apparently, neither of them was available locally and one wasn't available anywhere.

Around this time, I got a call from the local Customer Care Manager at Mahindra. I told him about the issue and the non-availability of parts and he assured me that he would escalate the case to HO for parts arrangement.

Then they connected their laptop to the car to check for other issues and error codes but there were none.

So after a long 5 hrs, even though I returned back with the car in the same condition, I was still impressed with the proactive and helpful approach from both Mahindra as well as the SVC. Let's hope they arrange the parts asap.

As a precaution, I have decided not to drive the car till the parts are replaced.
