Hyundai Sonata V6 restoration: Engine & transmission mounts changed

The CV joint has also been disassembled and cleaned (the grease had mixed with water owing to the torn axle boots) and a fresh CV-joint-specific grease was found and used.

ATF refill done

The Hyundai manual states that the ATF must be refilled and drained until the fluid comes out clear and clean. Now the oil in the Sonata wasn't that bad, so we've drained as much as possible (measured 4.25~4.35L), and brought it back up to level with Mannol SP-III (4L) for now. I would've preferred doing a 2nd drain + refill right now but my mechanic asked me to drive it for 1000km and then do it.

The weeping trans oil seal is replaced, the axle half shafts are cleaned. The CV joint was disassembled, cleaned (the grease had mixed with water owing to the torn axle boots), a fresh CV-joint-specific grease was found and used (it's black in colour), and the joints are put back together with new aftermarket boots (specific to the Sonata) from Boodmo.

An important shipment of spares from SpareKorea.com has reached Delhi customs.

I've ordered weather strips, brand new battery tray (current one is rusted through), tie rod ends (backup), steering bellows, and 30 (!) minor bushes that will be used to complete the suspension rebuild. Hopefully, customs will let this package by without hassle.

Looking at SpareKorea's website you'd think they're running a scam but I've used them once and found them to be very professional and transparent. They even refunded me USD 100+ on this order because the actual shipped weight of the parts was a lot less than they'd estimated!

Engine + trans mounts are finally changed.

This moment has been 2+ months in the making because I was told at the last moment that the trans mount needs replacing, too. Some pics of the mounts follow.

Engine mount #2. This one has the least sag of all 4 but of course, it will be changed. Note the tear on one web.

Engine mount #3

Old trans mount. The core will be removed and the new one will be fitted on a press.

Trans mount replaced with a new one.
