Hyundai confirms N-badged high-performance EV for the future

Hyundai has confirmed a new high-performance electric vehicle in the near future, under its N division.

Hyundai N, the performance division of the Korean carmaker has confirmed that they will be introducing a new N-badged EV in the near future.

The announcement came on the sidelines of the unveiling of the Kona N SUV, which took place on April 27, 2021. Hyundai confirmed that their N division is looking at electric and hydrogen fuel cell powertrain options for their upcoming model.

The new N-badged EV will be underpinned by Hyundai's new battery electric vehicle platform called E-GMP, which recently debuted on the Hyundai IONIQ 5. Hyundai stated that the new platform offers a lot of flexibility and possibilities.

Hyundai also confirmed that their RM platform will be used for testing the various powertrains, which include electric and hydrogen fuel cells.

While details are scarce, the Hyundai N-badged EV is expected to feature the electric powertrain from the Kia EV6 GT. This electric powertrain is said to produce 577 BHP and 720 Nm. Hyundai will officially confirm the exact powertrain details at a later stage.
