According to a media report, the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar will be offered with 2.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines.
Contrary to speculations, the Hyundai Creta will not share its engines with the 7-seater Alcazar. Instead, the latter will use the 2.0-litre petrol unit from the Tucson. This engine produces 150 BHP and 192 Nm. It will be offered with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
While the 1.5-litre diesel engine has been borrowed from the Creta, reports suggest that the engine will have a higher state-of-tune. It is also expected to be offered with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The Alcazar is slightly larger than the Creta and gets 3 rows of seats with separate captain seats in the second row. The SUV features a redesigned exterior with a familiar front fascia but a completely new rear profile.
The Hyundai Alcazar will compete with the Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus in the Indian market.
