Honda WR-V specifications revealed

Details of the Honda WR-V have been released by the company prior to its expected launch on 16th March 2017. The compact crossover is based on the Jazz hatchback though it gets a few design tweaks to give it SUV-like characteristics.

On the outside, the car gets a prominent chrome bar on the front grille, headlamps with DRLs, faux skid plates, body cladding on the wheel arches and door panels, and diamond cut alloy wheels. The WR-V is 3,999 mm long, 1,734 mm wide and has a height of 1,601 mm. It has a wheelbase of 2,555 mm. The kerb weight of the S variant of petrol model is 1,087 kg while that of the diesel model is 1,176 kg. The car has a fuel tank capacity of 40 litres and 363 litres of boot space.

Some of the features on offer include an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, 17.7 cm infotainment system with satellite navigation, voice recognition, Bluetooth, USB, and an internal memory of 1.5 GB. The system also supports Wifi and Mirror Link. The diesel model gets keyless entry, button start/stop system and cruise control. The safety features include ABS with EBD, dual airbags, multi angle rear view camera and brake override system.

The suspension duties are carried out by McPherson struts at the front and a twisted torsion beam at the rear. The front wheels have ventilated disc brakes while the rear wheels get drum brakes. The VX variant gets 16 inch alloy wheels which are shod with 195/60 R16 tyres.

The petrol engine on offer is a 1.2 L, 4-cylinder SOHC engine which makes 89 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm @ 4,800 rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and unlike the Jazz there is no CVT on offer for the WR-V. The company claimed fuel efficiency of for the Petrol MT combination is 17.5 km/l.

The diesel engine is a 1.5 L, 4-cylinder DOHC engine which is rated at 99 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm @ 1,750 rpm. This engine works in tandem with a 6-speed manual transmission and has a company claimed fuel efficiency of 25.5 km/l.
