Honda Cars India launches Brio Exclusive Edition

The festive season in India sees a slew of car and two wheeler launches. Car makers who don't have all new cars/two wheelers lined up make do with refreshed versions or special edition variants. In that vein, Honda Cars India has launched the Exclusive Edition of its entry-level Brio hatchback. The "Exclusive Edition" variant of the Brio commemorates the 2nd anniversary of the car's launch in India, a market in which it has managed to sell over 54,000 units till date. The Brio Exclusive Edition hatchback is available in the S MT variant and is priced at 4.92 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi.

The following represent the various features on the Brio "Exclusive Edition" hatchback:

  • Black interior finish including an all-black dashboard
  • Premium fabric upholstery
  • Roof spoiler
  • Exclusive Emblem
  • Illuminated sill plate
  • Door visors
  • Chromed exhaust tip
  • Reverse parking sensors

The car is available in three colours: Tafeta White, Alabaster Silver and Rally Red. The Brio Exclusive Edition retains the 1.2 liter i-VTEC petrol engine that outputs 88 PS of peak power and 109 Nm of peak torque. This 4 cylinder petrol engine is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. The Brio is also available with a 5 speed automatic gearbox on select variants. Notably, the automatic gearbox option isn't available on the Exclusive Edition model. Top end variants of the hatchback get twin airbags and ABS+EBD as standard safety features, while the Exclusive Edition model doesn't.

The Brio platform has been quite a successful one for Honda, with the lion's share of the Japanese car maker's sales in India coming from this platform. The Brio platform hosts Honda's current best seller, the Amaze compact sedan. In the next year, a new car in the form of the Honda Mobilio MPV will also be launched in India. The Mobilio, which was unveiled at this year's Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), will represent the third Brio platform-based car to be launched here. The MPV will get both petrol and diesel engine options.
