Harley-Davidson opens merchandise showroom at Mumbai Airport

Harley-Davidson India has opened its first merchandise-only showroom at the Mumbai Airport. It is located at Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport, and is spread over an area of 500 sq. ft. The showroom displays and retails all official merchandise of the Harley-Davidson brand, including riding jackets, boots, helmets, t-shirts, caps, gloves, sunglasses, sweaters and various other accessories.

Harley-Davidson is known to earn a significant chunk of its overall revenue from its merchandise arm. With its presence at the Mumbai Airport, the company appears to be targeting travellers who often have ample time at their hands to check out feature stores at the terminal.

The American motorcycle manufacturer has seen a satisfactory response in India, ever since it commenced operations here in August 2009. The company currently has presence in 22 cities of the country, with 23 independent dealerships operating under its umbrella. Harley-Davidson has been trying to expand its reach to more cities, and has opened new dealerships in various Tier-II cities over the last year, including Ludhiana, Surat, Kochi, Lucknow, Coimbatore, Calicut, Nagpur and Guwahati.
