GMC Hummer EV 'electric supertruck' revealed

The electric supertruck can travel up to 560 km on a single charge.

General Motors has revealed the all-electric GMC Hummer EV. Dubbed as the 'electric supertruck', it is claimed to offer a maximum range of over 560 km on a single charge.

The SUV's styling is inspired by the Hummer. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and has a ground clearance of 302 mm. Adaptive air suspension allows the ground clearance to be raised to 330 mm. The standard water fording depth of the vehicle is 660 mm, which can be increased to 813 mm.

On the inside, the SUV features a 13.4-inch touchscreen head-unit and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. It has transparent roof panels which can be removed.

The Hummer EV uses the Ultium propulsion technology. It is powered by three electric motors that produce 1,000 BHP and 1,900 Nm. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just over 3 seconds.

The SUV has five driving modes - normal, off-road, terrain, tow/haul and 'My' mode. It has 4-wheel steer with a crab mode, in which both the front and rear wheels can be turned at a 10-degree angle allowing diagonal movement.

The Hummer EV uses a 24 module double-stacked Ultium battery pack. The battery can change its circuitry from parallel to series while charging, which makes it compatible with 350 kW fast chargers that give an approximate range of 160 km in just 10 minutes.

The GMC Hummer EV will be available in four variants with prices starting at US$ 79,995 (Rs. 59.67 lakh approx).
