Ford India's website showcases the new Endeavour

Ford Endeavour appears on the Ford India's website. While not too many details have been revealed, it gives us an indication that the India launch isn't too far away.

This is the third generation of this SUV which is based on the Ranger pick-up truck platform and features a body-on-frame construction. It has a trapezoidal grille with horizontal slats, projector headlamps, side steps, a roof-mounted rear spoiler, 20" alloy wheels and a horizontal chrome strip running across its tailgate between the tail lamp clusters. The bumpers sport matte silver skid plates. The ORVMs and door handles are in chrome too. A panoramic sunroof might make its way in the Indian model as well.

The interiors of the new Endeavour are far more modern compared to the outgoing model, with a redesigned dashboard and centre console, modern controls for the air-conditioner and a new Ford SYNC2 infotainment system.

Engine options for the new Endeavour are likely to include 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder and 3.2-litre, 5-cylinder diesel units. Manual and automatic transmission options will be available in two-wheel drive configurations whereas the 3.2 will be available with a 6-speed automatic only in four-wheel drive configuration. Ford's Terrain Management System, which has four preset settings - normal, snow/gravel/grass, sand and rock, is also likely to make its way in the Indian-specific Endeavour as well.

More details of this SUV will be revealed closer to its launch. This 7-seater SUV will be pitted against the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and SsangYong Rexton.
